A Wyoming ranch with hay bales and outbuildings beneath open sky

Wyoming insurance

Wyoming coverage built around land, livestock, and long miles.

From Star Valley hay ground to Jackson second homes, we write Wyoming accounts out of our Montpelier office — a short drive from the state line.

Most Wyoming families we meet are underinsured in the same place: the homeowners policy is doing work it was never designed for. Outbuildings, corrals, hay in storage, mobile machinery, and livestock are limited or excluded outright on a standard HO-3. A farm and ranch policy handles them as scheduled property.

Liability is the other gap. The moment you sell beef, board horses, lease pasture, or hire seasonal help, the personal liability on a homeowners policy stops responding. Farm liability plus employer's liability closes that — and in Wyoming, workers' compensation runs through the state fund, which changes how the whole package gets built.

We also see a lot of highway exposure here. Long rural commutes, wildlife strikes, and gravel-road windshield damage all push toward comprehensive coverage and higher liability limits than the state requires.

What Wyoming drivers and owners should know

Wyoming auto minimums are 25/50/20

$25,000 bodily injury per person, $50,000 per accident, $20,000 property damage. With today's truck values, $20,000 in property damage is one collision away from being inadequate.

Workers' comp runs through the state fund

Wyoming is a monopolistic-style state fund for most covered employment. Your commercial package still needs employer's liability — the state fund doesn't provide it.

Livestock is not covered by a home policy

Lightning, drowning, and accidental shooting are typical named perils on a livestock endorsement. Standard homeowners coverage treats animals as excluded property.

Wildlife strikes and gravel roads

Deer, elk, and antelope collisions are comprehensive claims, not collision. Skipping comprehensive to save a few dollars is the most common Wyoming coverage mistake we correct.
